The Government has announced multiple policy initiatives which
aim to provide the infrastructure sector with the tools it needs to support the
New Zealand economy as it emerges from Covid-19.
In early April, the Infrastructure Reference Group (IRG) put
a call out for ‘shovel ready’ projects. 1924 projects were submitted with a
combined value of $136b. In May, the IRG provided its final report to Ministers
which included a list of projects which are ready to begin within 12 months and
offer significant employment and public benefit. Ministers will soon decide
which projects to progress.
We would like to provide our members with the opportunity to
discuss this initiative further with those who led the process from their
respective bubbles during the level 4 lock down.
