Join the Infrastructure NZ and DIA teams for a session to unpack the Three Waters Reform programme and discuss some of the key issues being grappled with. Underway for a few years now, the new Government has confirmed the Reform Programme is a priority and it is moving at pace. The Three Waters is the only infrastructure sector in New Zealand that has not been significantly reformed or changed in the last thirty years, an indication of the complexity and size of the challenge! We know the three waters are critical to achieving health, environmental, economic and cultural outcomes and that the provision of three waters infrastructure is a major challenge for Councils, especially those facing growth and resilience issues.

With a projected infrastructure deficit north of $30 billion and major capability, funding and financing challenges, the service delivery reforms are critical to get right. Led by the Minister of Local Government and the Department of Internal Affairs, the programme is being undertaken in partnership with Local Government and iwi/Māori treaty partners. This workshop is a chance to hear from the lead officials about the roadmap for the programme, where we are up to and the next steps.

With a focus on the service delivery reforms, the team will talk through the Government’s starting position of a smaller number of multi-regional water entities, what this could look like and how it will radically change the waters landscape in Aotearoa. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback on some of the key issues that the programme is working through ahead of the next engagement with the sector in March and Cabinet decisions in the middle of the year.

This workshop will be held in Wellington on 27 January and in Auckland on 4 February. Spaces for both workshops are limited. Please register for a workshop in your preferred location below by Wednesday, 20 January 2020.

The Women's Infrastructure Network is delighted to invite you to the first in a series of networking breakfasts hosted specifically for women in senior roles in the infrastructure sector. This series is designed to facilitate cross sector networking and idea sharing, and create a space to reflect on the challenges of diversity in leadership in the sector.

Each month, we will shine a light on a different senior leader who will share their career highs and lows, and provide an insight into the work they do. WIN NZ founder and Infrastructure NZ's Director Strategic Partnerships Sarah Lang will kick the series off by sharing her story and taking a look back on the shift in diversity in the infrastructure sector since the inception of the Women's Infrastructure Network in 2016.

Ever wondered how congestion from the damage to the Auckland Harbour Bridge was managed, or how vehicle and people movement is being controlled during the 36th America’s cup? The Emerging Talent Network is delighted to invite you to a visit to the Auckland Transport Operation Centre (ATOC). A joint venture between Auckland Transport and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, ATOC operates behind the scenes to ensure everyone using the transport system has a safe, reliable journey.

    • responds to more than 40,000 unplanned events every year
    • uses 3000+ CCTV cameras to monitor the transport network and respond where needed
    • processes 1600 event-related traffic management plan applications annually
    • delivers traffic management and/or special event transport services for 50 major events annually.
The visit will be followed by self-funded drinks and nibbles at the neighbouring Goodside. Spaces for the site visit are limited. Please register by Thursday, 4 February 2021.
